A Christmas Carol

Over the past few weeks, Year 5 have taken a closer look at ‘A Christmas Carol’. It has helped with our Victorian topic not only to learn more about Victorian life, but also with the Christmas traditions.

We explored each ghost that appeared including Marley’s, and focused on:

  • creating atmosphere
  • Using coordinating and subordinating conjunctions
  • Different sentence openers such as similes and subordinate clauses
  • Figurative language
  • Punctuating speech correctly especially using commas for clarity

Below is a photo of everyone’s ghost description. We imagined we were Scrooge and chose which ghost to describe seeing.
